Call for Board of Directors Nominations


The Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) acknowledges the work of SSA takes place on the lands covered by Treaties 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 & 10 the traditional lands of the Cree, Dakota, Dene, Lakota, Nakota, and Saulteaux peoples as well as the homeland of the Metis and is committed to having a board of directors (Board) that is comprised of talented and dedicated directors with diverse lived experiences. As an inclusive Board, the Board welcomes people from all parts of Saskatchewan, inclusive of First Nation and Metis peoples, people of all abilities, professional expertise, sexual orientation, gender identity, race ethnicity, and age. 

The Nominations Committee has determined the board is both diverse and skilled, but as a priority seeks to recruit individuals with experience in financial management, government relations & legal expertise.

Other areas of focus include:

  • Non-profit governance,
  • Communications,
  • Public relations,
  • Marketing. 

All individuals with a desire and expertise to make a contribution to the growth of the SSA and soccer in Saskatchewan are welcome to apply to the Board. The primary criterion is a genuine interest and commitment to contributing to the governance of the game for the betterment of the SSA on a provincial level. We invite candidates who will contribute to apply following the process below.

AN OPEN AND TRANSPARENT RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The SSA Board has developed an open and transparent application and recruitment process. To apply to be on the SSA Board, a candidate must complete the following documents and steps:

  1. A Nomination Form (via Submittable) is completed by the Nominator.
  2. Nominees will complete a Nominee Form (via Submittable) which confirms their acceptance of the nomination and details their background, education and experience to support their Nomination. PLEASE NOTE: Both documents must be received by December 15, 2024.
  3. Candidates that complete all requirements by the deadline can expect to be contacted by the Chair of Nominations. This individual, possibly in conjunction with the President and/or the Chair of Governance, will guide the nominee through the nominations vetting process. During this meeting, the nominee will be provided with information about the governance model that the Saskatchewan Soccer Association follows, as well as the typical duties and time commitment expected of a board member.
  4. Following the vetting process, the nominee will be requested to complete the Respect Group’s Respect in Sport for Administrators online course, as well as undergo a criminal record check. 

Upon completion of the above steps, nominees will be presented to the Board of Directors for approval as part of the slate of candidates for consideration at the 2025 Annual General Meeting (AGM)

The candidates selected by the Board will then provide a brief description of themselves and why they would be good a good addition to the Board. The description provided by the candidate will be included in the AGM package for SSA members to consider.

Members of SSA will then be able to meet the candidates on the Friday before the AGM. 

SSA members will vote on the candidates they believe should be elected to the Board during the AGM. Candidates who have been been selected by the Board to be presented to the SSA membership will be required to attend the AGM on Saturday, March 22nd and the board meeting on Sunday, March 23rd in Saskatoon.
