Call for Board of Directors Nominations

Saskatchewan Soccer Association (SSA) is committed to having a board comprised of talented and dedicated directors with a diverse mix of experience, expertise, skills, and backgrounds that reflects the diverse nature of the environment in which SSA operates. As an inclusive and equitable Board, the Board welcomes people from all parts of Saskatchewan, inclusive of First Nation and Metis peoples, people of all abilities, professional expertise, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, ethnicity, and age.

The Nominations Committee has determined the Board is both diverse and skilled, but as a priority seeks to recruit individuals with experience in sporting/recreational facility development and legal expertise.

Other areas of focus include:

  • Non-profit sport governance,
  • Corporate partnerships,
  • Government relations, and
  • Directors of publicly traded companies

All individuals with a desire and expertise to make a contribution to the growth of the Association are welcome. The primary criterion is a genuine interest and commitment to contributing to the governance of the game for the betterment of the Association on a provincial level. We invite candidates who will contribute to put their name forward.

AN OPEN AND TRANSPARENT RECRUITMENT PROCESS

The SSA Board of Directors has developed an open and transparent process to recruit Board candidates:

  1. Nomination Form (via Submittable) is completed by the Nominator.
  2. Nominees will complete a Nominee Form (via Submittable) which confirms their acceptance of the nomination and details their background, education and experience to support their Nomination. PLEASE NOTE: Both documents must be received by December 15, 2025.
  3. Candidates that complete all requirements by the deadline can expect to be contacted by the chair of nominations. This individual, possibly in conjunction with the president and/or the chair of governance, will guide the nominee through the nominations vetting process. During this meeting, the nominee will be provided with information about the governance model that the Saskatchewan Soccer Association follows, as well as the typical duties and time commitment expected of a board member.
  4. Following the vetting process, the nominee will be requested to complete the Respect Group’s Respect in Sport for Administrators online course, as well as undergo a criminal record check. Once the criminal record check has been completed, they will be asked to fill out a pre-indicative assessment questionnaire.

Upon completion of the above steps, nominees will be presented to the Board of Directors for approval as part of the slate of candidates for consideration at the 2025 Annual General Meeting.
