Outdoor Games - Guidelines Updated

May. 26, 2021

To: All SSA Member Organizations

GAME ON!!

Today we met with BRT and Sask Sport and are happy be able to provide clarity on several items related to the return to games for outdoor.

Please note, that although restrictions have been lessened, it is important that we all continue to follow our guidelines and procedures in place to mitigate risk and provide a safe environment for all participants. Your organization needs to use its best judgement and can always go above and beyond what is required in the government guidelines.

See pages 15-16 in the Return to Soccer Plan for important updates. Please note, only outdoor sport is set to resume on May 30th

Answers to some of the most common questions we have received related to outdoor games resuming on May 30:

1.      What are the current travel restrictions?

Interprovincial travel for sport is not allowed. There is no restriction on travel within the province for league play (tournaments are not allowed).

2.      Are masks required outdoors?

There is no public health order requiring masks outdoors. Your organization may choose to require masks if you would like to provide another level of protection, however they are not mandated.

3.      Who is included in the 150-person gathering limit?

Spectators are included in the 150. Spectators not in the same family must be able to social distance by 2 metres at all times, and therefore capacity may be less than 150 depending on the facility/field setup.

Players, team personnel and referees on the playing area are not included in the 150. There are no restrictions to the number of participants on the field, however organizations need to use their best judgement to continue to provide a safe environment.

Organizations must also consult with their facility operators on any additional facility restrictions.

4.      Are there bubbles/mini-leagues?

There are no longer mini-leagues.

5.      Can we play 11 v. 11?

Yes, 11 v. 11 is now allowed.

Reminder, the above is only for outdoor only. Indoor Restrictions remain unchanged and are set to be lifted on June 20th in Step 2 of the Reopening Roadmap. The BRT informed us that masks indoors will be required when indoor games first return, and will remain a requirement until Step 3 of Reopening Plan (approx. July 11).

Please read the updates to the Return to Soccer Plan and contact us with any further questions.

We look forward to hearing updates as you return to games - have fun!!
